Six unprecedented books published during the new forthcoming edition including:
"Ten Women in One" on Hoda Sultan by leading Egyptian film critic Kamal Ramzi, and an authorized biography of Egyptian star Hussein Fahmy by film critic Ahmed Shawky
The management of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF), has decided to dedicate its 11th edition that will be held from March 4 to 10, 2022, to the memory of three great African artists: the late Egyptian star Mahmoud Morsi, a brilliant actor with outstanding performances on both film and TV, the late and great Moroccan director Mohamed Ismail, a cinema pioneer, and the late Egyptian star Hoda Sultan, a legendary actor and singer with a unique and long career in cinema, theater, television and radio. On this occasion. The festival will publish two books: The first is entitled Ten Women in One" written by leading Egyptian film critic Kamal Ramzi, and the second is written by the critic Ahmed Shawky who will retrace the biography of great Egyptian star Hussein Fahmy, who is will be awarded of the life achievement award on the opening night.
The festival also will publish a third book about the great filmmaker and African film expert Férid Boughedir on his distinguished journey and his most important works, a fourth book, in French and translated into Arabic, on the late Senegalese filmmaker Djibril Diop Mambéty by Senegalese critic Nadjibou Sagna, as well as a fifth book about the late great director Shadi Abdeslam written by Dr. Mervat Kamouni and translated into Arabic by Tunisian director Mahmoud Jemni.
As part of the festival's theme on rediscovering Egypt, the festival publishes a book of the same name for a group of writers in both Arabic and English. This will come along with additional publications and special files related to the 11th session program.
LAFF has recently launched the official poster of the forthcoming edition while announcing its slogan "Rediscovering Egypt", and will also dedicate a round table on the importance and aesthetics of Egyptian sites to contribute to raising global awareness towards Egypt as an international filming location. In addition to Egyptian star Hussein Fahmy, LAFF will also give tribute to Burkinabe filmmaker Apolline Traoré, Egyptian star Amr Saad.
The Luxor African Film Festival is organized and organized by the Independent Artists Youth Foundation with the support of the Ministries of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, Youth, Sports and Foreign Affairs. In cooperation with the Association of Film Professions and Luxor Governorate and under the auspices of the National Bank of Egypt.
